Did you know that a lot of what we eat in the U.S. isn’t even legal in Europe? Many of the food dyes, preservatives, and sweeteners in our foods aren’t allowed in the European versions. Why make two versions everything? The answer is upsetting.
With my trust in the FDA completely shattered and systemic global issues on the forefront of my mind I started brainstorming about possible solutions. I know I’m not the first person to recognize cricket flour for all of it’s incredible attributes for humans and planet But could I make it cute?
The other cricket products I’ve seen on the market are “sciency” which isn’t bad, but it’s not cute. I wanted to take cricket flour and wrap it in European nostalgia while showing off all of it’s amazing world-saving qualities. I wanted to develop a brand of cricket flour that would fit in but stand out on the shelves of Whole Foods (for example). Bugette is my answer to that. It’s cozy, it’s yummy, it’s fresh baked goods on a mission.
